These short motets were written in 2013 for the chapel choir of Clare College, Cambridge. God be in my head was (and is) an attempt to create an alternative setting of these sublime words; Our Father stems from the same wish: in this case, to see if I could make a setting of this prayer which rose above the dreary banality of the settings in Anglican liturgical use, yet was simple to sing.
